- Please be sure to check the school website for important school information and updates.
- MOY Mclass assessments begin December 8th. Please remember that I will be assessing your child’s phonemic awareness skills and a DIFFERENT teacher will be assessing your child’s reading and comprehension.
- If you wish to be a chaperone for our upcoming field trips, please make sure you came in to school and sign up on our volunteer system! You will not be allowed to chaperone unless you have been cleared volunteer. This does includes a background check.
Reading:
- With prompting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
- Ask and answer questions in order to seek help, get information, or clarify something that is not understood.
- Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllable and sounds (phonemes).
- Count, produce, blend and segment syllables in spoken words.
- Read simple pattern books.
- Recognize and name end punctuation
- Use a combination of drawings, dictating, and writing to compose opinion pieces in which they tell a reader the topic or the name of the book they are writing about and state an opinion or preference about the topic or book.
- Understand that words are separated by spaces produce primary sounds for each consonant spell simple words phonetically in their writing.
- Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
- When counting objects, say the number in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one objects.
- Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects in the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
- Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger. (K.CC.4)
- Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count that many objects (K.CC.5)
- Identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group, e.g. by using matching and counting strategies (K.CC.6)
- Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals (K.CC.7)
- Explain why national holidays are celebrated (1.H.1.3)·
